Abstract:

We will describe some properties of numerical integration of hyperbolic systems of PDE's with finite volume high order schemes. The numerical integration of PDE's produces with high accuracy high quality numerical solutions. However, this is obtained at the price of spurious effects which potentially can damage the solution in some cases. We will discuss these spurious effects and detail techniques to study and control their development.
