Sommersemester 2025
Giovanni-Prodi-Gastprofessur im Sommersemester 2025

Juncheng Wei is currently the Cho-Ming Li of mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research concentrates on nonlinear partial differential equations, with applications in Riemannian and conformal geometry and mathematical biology.
He obtained his PhD in 1994 from the University of Minnesota under the direction of Wei-Ming Ni, after which he held a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at SISSA in Italy. He was a professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1995 to 2013, and then at the University of British Columbia from 2013 to 2024 as Tier I Canada Research Chair. He was awarded the Morningside Silver medal in 2010 and the Jeffery-Williams prize in 2020, and was an invited speaker at the 2014 International Congress of Mathematicians. In 2019 he was elected to a Fellow of Royal Society of Canada.
He has published over 500 research articles in many journals, including the Annals of Mathematics, Crelle's journal, Inventiones Mathematicae, Communications in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Duke Mathematics Journal, the Journal of Differential Geometry and Mathematische Annalen.
