Oberseminar Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften "When free-discontinuity problems meet variable exponent: Sobolev approximation and regularity"

I will discuss a recent result obtained in collaboration with F.Dipasquale (SSM). he main focus is about manifold constrained free discontinuity problems with the additional requirement that the bulk energy presents a variable exponent. We extend to this setting the Sobolev approximation result for special function of bounded variation with small jump set originally proven by Conti, Focardi and Iurlano. Next, we use this extension to prove regularity of local minimizers.
