Würzburg

Würzburg is a city of approximately 130,000 inhabitants, located in the northern part of Bavaria, approximately 120 kilometers distant from either Frankfurt or Nuremberg. Würzburg has a long history reaching back about 3,000 years when a Celtic fortification was erected on the site of the present Fortress Marienberg. Würzburg is rich in culture and lifestyle and provides a pleasant and entertaining atmosphere. The city is famous for basketball and wine. For more information the following links might be useful:

University of Würzburg

The roots of the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg date back to the year 1402. The university belongs to the six oldest universities in the German-speaking world, looking back at a rich tradition. Currently, approximately 400 professors and 28.000 students are enrolled in ten departments. Many renowned scientists, among them 14 Nobel prize winners like Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (discoverer of x-rays), conducted research at our university.
